Man Throws Brick At Police Car, Breaks Side Window: PD

The man threw the brick while an officer and a person who had been arrested were inside the vehicle, police say.

DEER PARK, NY — A man was arrested and charged on Thursday after he threw a brick at a police vehicle in Brentwood, police said.

Alexander Bustos, 23, of Brentwood, was charged with first-degree reckless endangerment and second-degree criminal mischief, police said.

According to police, officers were conducting an investigation into a motor vehicle crash on Wednesday at MacArthur Street and Doolittle Street at about 5:30 p.m., when Bustos, who in an unregistered ATV, drove by the scene of a crash at a high rate of speed and threw a brick at the police car.

The brick struck the vehicle, which was occupied by an officer and a person who had been arrested, and caused damage to the passenger side window, police said. No one was injured, police said.

After an investigation by Third Squad detectives, patrol officers from the Third Precinct arrested Bustos at his job in Deer Park at about 3 p.m., police said.

Bustos is scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on Friday.
