Married Couple Hurt in Deer Park Crash

The wife suffered serious injuries in accident late Sunday night, police say.

A North Babylon woman was seriously hurt in a Deer Park crash that also injured her husband late Sunday night, police said.

According to police, 48-year-old Catherine Beaumont was driving a 2014 Toyota Prius north on the shoulder of Deer Park Avenue and attempted to make a U-turn at Half Hollow Road in order to head south on Deer Park Avenue when her vehicle collided with a 2013 Hyundai Genesis at 11:47 p.m.

Beaumont was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip with serious, but non-life threatening injuries. Her husband, Paul Beaumont, 53, who was a passenger in the car, was taken to the same hospital with minor injuries.

The driver of the Hyundai, 19-year-old Joseph Echel, of Deer Park, was not injured.

Both vehicles were impounded for safety checks and the investigation is continuing. Detectives are asking anyone with information on this crash to call the First Squad at 631-854-8152.
