Mike Filippone to Attempt to Bat His Way to World Record

North Babylon man will make his second attempt at marathon baseball batting record on Saturday, according to report.

Head down to Phelps Lane Park in North Babylon Saturday to witness a Guinness World Record attempt. 

Newsday reported that Mike Filippone, of North Babylon, will make his second attempt at the record for marathon baseball batting beginning at 8 a.m. 

Filippone, the president of the North Babylon Youth League, made his first attempt at the record in 2009 and swung away for more than 15 hours before paramedics had to put him on oxygen, Newsday reported.

The record attempt will benefit the Cohen Children's Medical Center in Queens and the Dan Gambardella Memorial Fund, a scholarship set up to honor Filippone's friend who was killed in a DWI crash last year, according to Newsday.
