N. Babylon Teen Choreographs Dance Performed for Hofstra

Paul Giarratano is the mastermind behind St. John High School's Democracy Dance Project.

Paul Giarratano, of North Babylon, is the creative mind behind St. John the Baptist Diocesan High School Dance Company's performance in the Democracy Dance Project at Hofstra University.

The Dance Project, entitled “Expressions of Democracy 2012”, was an event celebrating the presidential debates. St. John the Baptist was one of six high schools chosen to perform. The Dance Company performed "Ordinary People," choreographed by Giarratano, class of 2012.

The event explored American history and cultural historical performances, drama, fine arts and dance. It included a performance of dances by high school student choreographers, and Hofstra student and faculty choreographers, all inspired by social issues.

The St. John the Baptist Dance Company is an advanced performance group that performs at high profile events and is under the direction of Renee Sussman, performing arts faculty.
