N. Babylon Teen Playing Horton in Local Performance of "Seussical"

Frankie Piccione will take the stage this weekend in Wantagh.

North Babylon teen, Frankie Piccione, will play one of the lead characters in the local version of the Broadway musical, "Seussical," opening this weekend at Temple B’nai Torah in Wantagh.

Piccione scored the role of Horton after learning that the show needed someone to play the character at the last minute. He wrote to the show's producers, auditioned for the role and landed the gig.

"I love being Horton, he’s a terrific character. He’s so sweet and compassionate and he always wants to help people in need," the teen said.

"When they handed me a script it was all music and practically no dialogue. I didn’t see that coming. I didn’t know the entire show was sung, I thought just some of it would be. I guess that’s why the show is called Seussical the Musical.  All the people involved with the show are just wonderful. They are all extremely talented people. I’m very happy to be a part of it."

Piccione has performed across Long Island in shows including “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” as Lysander, “The Diary of Anne Frank” as Peter, “The Jungle Book” as Shere Khan, and the currently running “Beauty and the Beast Jr.” as Cogsworth at the Studio Theatre in Lindenhurst.
