North Babylon Boy Scout Troop 399's 55th Eagle Scout

Peter Murphy of North Babylon's Troop 399 has become the Troop's 55th Eagle Scout!
Town of Babylon Supervisor Rich Schaffer, Town of Babylon Deputy Supervisor Tony Martinez , Special Assistant Terrence McSweeney, and other special guests recently attended a Court of Honor ceremony to congratulate Peter Murphy on becoming an Eagle Scout. The Eagle Scout is the highest achievable rank in the Boy Scout organization. Peter earned his Eagle Rank in less than 2.5 years after joining Boy Scouts, an outstanding accomplishment given what is required to advance through the ranks of Boy Scouting and the additional responsibilities of school and work.
For his Eagle Scout project he built green fly catcher boxes that were deployed by the Town of Babylon which will help keep the biting fly population down for town residents using our shores for recreation. Peter also earned 22 merit badges and held the positions of Historian, Guide, Webmaster and Junior Assistant Scoutmaster, the last position having assisted the adult leaders and where he brought leadership skills and gained experiences that will last a lifetime. Peter will be attending Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in the Fall of 2017 to study Aviation and aeronautical engineering.
