North Babylon HS Students Turn Focus To Cultural Proficiency
North Babylon students attended assemblies that taught about the importance of discussing difficult conversations regarding race and culture

North Babylon High School students attended a series of virtual assemblies March 22-25, led by Tiffany Brown, CEO and founder of TWB Elite Consulting LLC. The sessions are part of the district’s recent cultural proficiency trainings, designed to teach students and staff about the importance of discussing difficult conversations regarding race and culture.

Tenth grade students gained confidence when talking about their races and began to share personal experiences and reflections with their classmates using Google Breakout rooms.
“Sometimes when we talk about our difference as it relates to our race and our culture, it’s normal to feel a little uncomfortable,” Brown said. “You all are going to be our future leaders and so we’re going to need people like you that don’t mind speaking up and voicing your opinions where they matter.”
