North Babylon School District Celebrates 'P.S. I Love You Day'
Students throughout the district dressed in purple on Friday, to raise awareness for mental health.

NORTH BABYLON, NY — Students and staff throughout the North Babylon Union Free School District participated in P.S. I Love You Day on Friday to spread the importance of mental health awareness.
Participants dawned in purple, hung “I Am Kind” posters in the hallways, wrote compliment letters to family, friends and teachers, participed in a kindness challenge, and posted nice messages on student lockers and creating kindness chains .In addition, the middle school and high school joined together and organized a P.S. I LoveYou Walk/Run on Feb. 12.

P.S. I Love You Day is held on Long Island every second Friday of February. The awareness campaign was developed by Brooke DiPalma of West Islip in honor of her deceased father, a retired New York Police Department officer, who took his own life when she was 14 years old.

DiPalma turned the tragic death of her father into an inspiring day known as P.S. I Love You Day. Since then, idea has spread, and is celebrated in other school districts and states.
