Not Your Spanish Sangria
At this Deer Park liquor store, an uncommon option for a Sangria fix.

It's the best-known wine punch from Spain, and it stems from a wine, fruit and brandy combination.

Vineyard 48's North Fork Sangria is available for $11.99.

Vineyard 48 is one of the more outlandish vineyards in an otherwise staid and respected wine country, which has grown in stature and has been recognized as a leading wine region in the world. In fact, Long Island was ranked the fifth-best United States wine destination in 2012.
Vineyard 48 has come under fire on the North Fork for its dance-party atmosphere on weekends. Neighbors have complained about loud noise and drunken guests, while others have argued it diminishes the value of Long Island's local wine country.

However, the owners have stood by their business decision and its winemaker Matt Berenz said in a 2012 interview with Patch that Vineyard 48 produces a solid product, adding "If people want to say that we don’t take our wines seriously because we throw a dance party … we've won several medals over the years, we've had excellent write-ups in the New York Times and Wine Spectator."
But it wasn't for the Sangria.
Next week: Patch will track down an expensive Long Island wine for sale in Deer Park and North Babylon.
