Deer Park resident Thomas Gillen captured the amber glow of a summer night sky Monday at the boat basin of Captree State Park in West Islip.

While a number of Long Islanders were fishing and crabbing, nearly everyone stopped to watch the sun's golden hues descend into night, he said.

The boat coming into the dock is the Captain Gillen (no relation to the photographer).
