Police: Deer Park Man Damaged Tires on More Than 19 Vehicles Around Town

Man arrested Sunday night.

A Deer Park man arrested on Sunday night is accused of damaging tires on more than 19 vehicles in the Deer Park area over the past month, police said.

Scott Silverman, 56, is charged with 19 counts of fourth degree criminal mischief and one count of third degree criminal mischief. He was being held at the First Precinct and is scheduled to be arraigned Monday at First District Court in Central Islip.

Silverman’s arrest came after First Precinct Crime Section officers John Focas and Madeline Cunningham investigated several incidents of vandalism to vehicles in the parking lots of the Deer Park Public Library, Deer Park Bowl, and various supermarkets, police said.

The officers discovered many more connected incidents in which tires were punctured with a sharp object, police said. All of the incidents occurred from early October to the beginning of November, police said.

The investigation is continuing and police are anyone with information about other potential victims to call the First Precinct Crime Section at 631-854-8126.
