Police: Woman Bit Deer Park Waldbaum's Employee

The employee confronted the woman for shoplifting Tuesday afternoon, police say.

An Amityville woman was arrested Tuesday after she shoplifted from the Deer Park Waldbaum’s and then bit an employee who confronted her, police said.

According to police, 37-year-old Dahnika Crawford entered the supermarket located at 1960 Deer Park Avenue and filled a cart with products. Crawford left the store without paying at 1:35 p.m. Tuesday, police said.

While outside the store, which was recently sold to ShopRite parent Wakefern, Crawford was confronted by an employee, police said.

The employee attempted to regain the stolen merchandise and an altercation began during which Crawford bit the employee, police said.

Crawford was arrested and charged with second degree robbery: cause physical injury.
