Recreation Department Hiring Summer Employees

The Babylon recreation department is hiring residents to fill summer positions as either lifeguards at town pools in North Babylon and Deer Park or as day camp counselors.

Applicants must be at least 16 years old.

Applications are available at the Babylon Department of Parks, Recreation and Cultural Affairs headquarters, which is located at Phelps Lane Park.

The day camp runs weekdays from July 2 through Aug. 3. from 8:45 a.m. to 4:15 p.m.

The town pools, which are for residents only, are scheduled to open June 25.

Separately, applications for unpaid day camp counselor-in-training positions are also being accepted. 

As for parents looking to enroll their kids in a summer program - sit tight.

Frank Bachety, the commissioner of the Recreation Department, said the summer guides aren't expected to be sent out to residents until later in May.

The guides will also be available online.
