Resurfacing of Larkfield between Garfield and Claypitts Needed.
Spring time Highway Department Needed Requests

Maryann Maltese, long time East Northport resident, Community Activist and Candidate for NYS Assembly 12th AD, today once again, notified Huntington Highways Department of the horrendous conditions of Larkfield Road between Garfield and Claypitts.
This Section of Larkfield Road between Garfield and Claypitts has not been fully resurfaced for over 10 years. Huntington completed other resurfacing sections of Larkfield last season, but left out this location? This area caters to many family utilized businesses; including Larkfield Lanes, Ralph's Ices, Brownstones, Sunny's Nails , Royal Pet Salon and host of other fabulous Hamlet businesses.
I understand utility companies have scheduled jobs that might not be finalized yet, but the conditions of the road way are crater based not pot hole base. It's in such bad condition a small pet can fall into while walking with their owner or pedestrians utilizing Larkfield could sprang or even worse fracture an ankle. Another upcoming event; John Walshe's Color Walk Run, utilizes Larkfield in this area to host a mega event. Allowing Larkfield to continue to further deteriorate is not the answer when Larkfield is the Center of East Northport's financial Hubb.

Many of us walk to Hamlet establishments and those of us who do drive and have low bearing vehicles could be subjected to unnecessary repairs due to continued neglect of Larkfield Road. This section of Larkfield has not received full-restoration or resurfacing for a decade-it's unacceptable practice and resurfacing before placing more traffic calming devices is necessary.
Cow Harbor Race is scheduled in September and wouldn't it be lovely if Larkfield was restored to its former glory so that race participants might choose to frequent our businesses in the East Northport Hamlet during that weekend. We have great eateries and craftsman shops; it's time for Huntington Highways and the Township to make this section of Larkfield their priority this calendar season. Many local running clubs and World Class Athletes sign up for Cow Harbor and not resurfacing this roadway again, when economic times scream for it so our mom and pop business can survive here is not the answer. Adding traffic calming devices without repairing the road is meaningless. Maryann Maltese has 30 years of Project Management Experiences and Community Bids as a former Communications and Regional Planner for downstate and Long Island based Communities within NYS Legislature.
