Scout's Project Enhances Babylon Museum's 9/11 Memorial Exhibit

This is the third Eagle Scout project made specifically for the Town of Babylon History Museum.

BABYLON, NY — The Town of Babylon History Museum has a new addition, thanks to a soon-to-be Eagle Scout.

Robert Wylie, who was joined by town officials, recently the unveiled his Scout project — a moveable base for the museum's September 11th Hometown Memorial model. The base allows the model's foundation to be "mobile."

A member of Troop 399 in North Babylon, Wylie will officially achieve the rank later this year.

According to Town of Babylon Historian Mary Cascone, this is the third Eagle Scout project made specifically for the Town of Babylon History Museum.

"The mobile base for the 9/11 Memorial model is a wonderful addition to the Town of Babylon
History Museum, and we are proud to display the model for visitors," Town of Babylon Historian Mary Cascone said. "Eagle Scout candidate Robert Wylie achieved both form and function, by designing a classic, sturdy display base, that is also mobile for display around the building.”

Suffolk County Legislator Tom Donnelly (D-Deer Park) also praised Wylie's work to honor those lost on 9/11.

“As a 9/11 first responder, I thank Mr. Wylie for his very useful project that enriches the museum’s display of the memorial and I look forward to recognizing him at his Court of Honor later this year.” said Legislator Donnelly.

The Town of Babylon September 11th Hometown Memorial, located at Cedar Beach, was dedicated on September 11th, 2005.
