SSCM Letters to Pope Francis

Saints Cyril and Methodius students reach out to Pope Francis via the written word.

The start of a new school year is always a frenetic and task-filled time for us all, but students at Saints Cyril and Methodius School in Deer Park have hit the ground running and have not let end of summer daydreams get in the way of their higher goals, thinking this week about world leadership and our access to the minds that shape the world in which we live.

With Pope Francis’ visit to the United States imminent, eighth graders at Saints Cyril and Methodius School put pen to paper and answered Newsday’s question “As the pope prepares to address Congress and the United Nations, what is the message you want him to deliver?” To see our students’ insightful questions and comments, visit
