Suffolk County Student Athlete Of The Week: Deer Park’s Kayla Beaumont

DEER PARK, NY — Less than two years after total reconstructive knee surgery, Kayla Beaumont ended her Deer Park High School track and field career as one of the most accomplished athletes in the program’s history.

Beaumont, a triple jump standout who graduated in June, capped her senior season with the second-best mark in New York State, county and section championships, All-State and All-American recognition, and Deer Park’s indoor and outdoor triple jump school records.

This summer, Patch is looking back at the student-athletes who helped define the 2025-26 sports seasons across Suffolk County. This week’s Suffolk County Student Athlete of the Week is Beaumont, whose final season combined elite performance with a comeback from major knee surgery.

At the Section XI triple jump championship, Beaumont jumped 40 feet, 8.5 inches to extend her own school record. She also posted a personal best of 17 feet, 6.5 inches in the long jump, finishing fourth overall in Section XI.

Beaumont then made her third trip to the state championship, held at Webster Schroeder High School in Rochester. She closed her Falcons career with a second-place finish in New York State and placed fourth overall in the federation, earning All-State honors.

Her season ended at New Balance Nationals in Philadelphia, where she jumped 41 feet, 2.25 inches to finish third and earn All-American recognition.

The results marked the end of a standout Deer Park career made even more remarkable by Beaumont’s recovery from total reconstructive knee surgery less than two years earlier.

“It’s an amazing end to one of the most inspiring stories to come out of Deer Park athletics,” coach James Petti said. “Kayla will go down as one of the most successful athletes in Deer Park history. While records are meant to be broken, hers will stay for a long time.”

Beaumont’s senior season placed her among the top triple jumpers in the state and nation, while also giving Deer Park a championship-level example of persistence, recovery and competitive drive.
