Teen Charged After Assault Outside Deer Park High School With Water Bottle: Police

Victim taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries after being struck with a Stanley water bottle, police say.

DEER PARK, NY — A teenage girl was arrested after assaulting another student outside Deer Park High School last week, according to Suffolk County police.

Police said the incident happened on Wednesday, April 23, around 12:40 p.m., when the suspect struck another female student with a Stanley water bottle outside the school, located at 1 Falcon Place.

The victim was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

The juvenile was charged with second-degree assault and is scheduled to be arraigned at Suffolk County Family Court in Central Islip at a later date.

"On April 24, we responded to an incident in which a student was involved in a physical altercation with another," A Deer Park school official said. "We immediately contacted law enforcement and are cooperating fully with their response. We take matters like this very seriously, and such behavior is not tolerated."
