Teen Planted Recording Device In Woman's Apartment: Cops

The 16-year-old put the device in the apartment of his father's tenant, police say.

COPIAGUE, NY - A 16-year-old male was arrested on Wednesday after placing a recording device in the apartment of his father's tenant, according to Suffolk Police.

Between April 6 and April 7, the teen entered the Copiague apartment of a 25-year-old woman and placed a recording device in her bathroom, police said.

The woman found the device and turned it over to the Suffolk County Police Department.

After an investigation, officers arrested the 16-year-old at his Copiague home at 10 p.m.

The teen was arrested and charged with attempted eavesdropping and possession of an eavesdropping device.

He is scheduled to be arraigned at a later date.
