Town Renames Street to Honor Late Deer Park Resident
Corner of East 2nd Street and Winnecomac Avenue renamed to honor Alexander "Buddy" Gillespie.
Last weekend Babylon Town Supervisor Rich Schaffer, Councilman Tom Donnelly, Councilwoman Jacqueline Gordon, and Town Clerk Carol Quirk dedicated the corner of East 2nd Street and Winnecomac Avenue in Deer Park to honor the late Alexander “Buddy” Gillespie, who died in March.
Gillespie was a well-known community figure in the Deer Park area, having been a former treasurer of the Deer Park Fire Department, a former president of the Deer Park Lions Club, and a past Grand Knight of Our Lady of the Rosary #4428. The ceremony was attended by members of Gillespie’s family as well as representatives of the organizations he had been a part of.
