Wyandanch Man Drove Wrong Way On LIE Without License: SCPD

The 25-year-old was caught driving westbound in the eastbound lanes of the expressway on Wednesday, police say.

YAPHANK, NY - A Wyandanch man was arrested after he was caught driving the wrong way on the Long Island Expressway without a license on Wednesday, according to Suffolk Police.

Manuel Lopez-Martinez, 25, was driving a 2004 Toyota Sienna westbound in the eastbound lanes of the LIE at about 2:10 a.m., police said.

Highway Patrol officers stopped the vehicle near Exit 67 in Yaphank and arrested Lopez-Martinez, police said.

He was charged with reckless driving and issued summonses for unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, driving in the wrong direction and speeding, police said.

He is being held overnight at the Seventh Precinct and is scheduled to be arraigned on Thursday.
