Wyandanch Man Gets 25 Years For Brutally Assaulting His Wife: DA
His wife's injuries were so brutal, she needed 2 surgeries to install 2 permanent steel plates on her left leg, DA says.
WYANDANCH, NY — A Wyandanch man has been sentenced to 25 years in prison for brutally assaulting his wife in 2021, Suffolk County District Attorney Raymond A. Tierney announced on Monday.
Almalik Keller, 43, was found guilty and convicted by a jury last month for first-degree assault, for which he will serve a 25-year sentence, prosecutors said.
He was also convicted of second-degree aggravated criminal contempt and resisting arrest before the Honorable Timothy P. Mazzei in Suffolk Superior Court, the DA said. Keller received a 20-year post-release supervision as well as concurrent sentences for these charges, prosecutors said.

Mazzei also issued a stay away order of protection in favor of Keller's wife.
On September 17, 2021, Keller brutally assaulted his wife at a smoke shop, according to evidence established in trial.

The entire incident, which was captured on video, showed Keller punching, kicking and stomping on his wife, and throwing glass bottles and cans at her head, Tierney said.
Bystanders at the store assisted his wife into the rear driver’s side of her vehicle. Keller, who was in the driver’s seat, got out and slammed the door on her leg before driving away with her in the car, prosecutors said.
His wife suffered a black eye and two lacerations to her scalp that required stitches, officials said. In addition, she sustained a broken leg and had to undergo two surgeries to install two permanent steel plates on both sides of her left leg, Tierney said.
Keller was arrested that same night by the Suffolk County Police Department. Upon approaching the vehicle, they saw his wife in the back seat covered in blood and screaming, police said.
When police attempted to arrest him for assault, Keller fought with one of the officers before managing to escape on foot, officials said. Eventually, officers caught Keller and subdued him with a taser, police said.
“Justice has been served and this should send the message that domestic violence cannot and will not be tolerated in Suffolk County,” said Tierney. “I hope today’s sentencing gives the victim a sense of closure and security in knowing that the defendant can no longer cause harm to her or anyone else.”
