Question: I recently noticed that the logos of Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and other social media appear on your Office’s brochures and website. Why is it important for the District Attorney’s Office to be on social media?
Traditionally, our office has utilized various forms of media, including newspapers, television, radio, public service announcements (PSA’s), and brochures, along with the KCDA website (www.brooklynda.org), to inform the public about the programs provided by my office.
Social media has become an increasingly important tool for people to use in order to communicate, as well as to share information and resources. It is important for people to know what services and initiatives are available to them. You can get daily updates to learn of new developments by following my office on these social media sites.
The goal is to keep the public informed so that together we can make Brooklyn a safer place to live. I would like to take this opportunity to invite you all to join me on Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Instagram and Pinterest.
• On Facebook: “Like” the Charles J. Hynes Facebook Page and read daily messages or “posts” that include pictures and video. On Facebook, users can post comments and ask questions.
• On Twitter: “Follow” DA Hynes (@BrooklynDA) and receive daily messages or “tweets.”
• On YouTube: View videos of press conferences and special events. • On Instagram: See pictures that show a virtual gallery of photos which provide a view of the wide range of activities at my office.
• On Pinterest: Find “pins” leading to newspaper articles and videos of programs including ComALERT, Back on Track and Animal Cruelty Prevention that are organized under virtual “pinboards”.
• On the KCDA website: Find information on programs and services along with telephone numbers for our various bureaus.
