A Nite @ 773 Open Mic (Video)
A nite @ the 773 Open Mic, 773 Coney Island Ave (btwn Cortelyou & Dorchester), with video of some of the performers

Ditmas Park has many musicians and some have made a home at 773 Bar Lounge on Coney Island Ave sharing their talents and honing their chops at the open mic every Thursday night. The 773 Open Mic organizers Bill Bern and Mike Fiorito are veteran performers from the open mic of the now closed Vox Pop coffee bar on Stratford, where this community of musical culture began almost 7 years ago. And the music plays on at 773 Bar Lounge with its own old style Irish pub décor and vibe, but on open mic night it lends itself to a 70's hippies groove. Generally the musical accompaniment is accoustic guitar, and the tunes will vary from blue grass to fast upbeat contemporary hits. Many of musicians perform their own originals as well as classic covers that can get everyone to sing or clap spontaneously.
It's a good venue to listen to local talent and to get to know your neighbors. The open mic has a 2 drink minimum. Here are videos of some of the musicians from the last two open mics. Partial disclosure, I am married to one of the musicians.
