Flatbush Food Coop Upgrades
Flatbush Food Coop adds new technology to their check out and also gives the consumer a new way to save.
The Flatbush Food Coop now has new cash registers will large bright screens that face the customer. These new screens let you see your purchases and your discounts, if any. The new system also has credit card readers where the customer does the swiping, with a privacy cover when inputting your personal code data (which is definitely a plus). The registers themselves have also been reconfigured into a semi-circle in front of the exit doors, with the idea of there being only one customer line that will feed into the register as they become available. I am not completely confident that this will be the best use of space, because on a Saturday this single line will have to wrap itself up and all around the aisles. I guess they want to try the Trader Joe model of check-out. Good luck on that one.
But just as a note of another change the coop has put in place, which works for the practical consumer - Coupons where the product are. Yes, this is forward thinking. Now you no longer miss their sale coupon because you weren't aware it existed, because now it is right in front of the product. So make sure to keep your eyes peeled for these added savings, as every penny saved helps.
