Just in case some you were not able to make the Flabush Frolic, even though I ran into just about everyone. I figured I would share some of the goings on.
The Frolic ran from Coney Island Avenue to about East 16th Street on Cortelyou Road, and had a little something for everyone. Of course, there was great music by a variety of musicians, as well as fun dance entertainment provided by our own Dance Fever Studio on Cortelyou Road. The San Remo 3rd annual Pizza Eating Contest was a special part of the Frolic mix. And the winner, after eating 1 pie and 2 slices, was 6'6” Matthew Varon from the hood. If you check the pics you will see him in action. There were vendors galore with traditional festival food favorites, art, jewelry and clothing. Local businesses were out showing their colors like Midwood Martial Arts, Flatbush Food Coop (cooking up sausages & grilling corn), Kumo and more. Amusement and pony rides for the kids. Massages were to be had if you felt a twinge from the walking from one end of the Frolic to the other. All in all the Frolic was a fun and festive event. If you didn't get to do it this year, I say put it on your list for next.
