GiroMondo offers classes to adults and children from toddlers up, that are geared both to those already exposed to the Italian language and to children with no previous experience of the language. As we primarily speak Italian in the class, a person that is familiar with Italian improves his/her language and those who know no Italian learn quickly by play and participation.

We have been teaching for ten years in Brooklyn and Manhattan.

The format of our Italian language classes is educational play with a dedicated teacher from Italy specializing in children language education. Our teachers incorporate movement, game playing, visual identification (see and name objects), books and stories, as well as modern and traditional Italian songs. Drawing, cutting and pasting is also part of our activities. We also engage children (and adults) in cooking experiences when there is the appropriate space.

Location of children classes is a child friendly rented space if the group is above six children.

For smaller groups we organize classes in parents’ homes, in the neighborhoods of Park Slope, Carroll Gardens, Cobble Hill, Brooklyn Heights and Ditmas Park/Flatbush area.

Adult classes are held either in a private home or a class friendly location.

Parent/Child is a very successful and quite effective formula.

In this case, one or both parents are in the class and learn along with the child. Attention to learning is given to both the parent and the child.
Parents are usually given some written exercises as homework and a song to sing along with the child.
This method has been successful and very stimulating for both because puts parent and child on a similar learning level.

In Manhattan, the fee is $65 per one 60 minutes hour up to three people.

TESTIMONIALS

Five stars for Claudia. She has helped me improve my conversation, vocabulary and pronunciation more than any other class I've taken. Her easygoing style makes learning fun.

Marilyn, 62

It has been a pleasure to work with Claudia for 7 years. From her I have learned to speak Italian and have fun at the same time. In the beginning when I first met her in 1st grade, she was incorporating Italian with different songs and games to teach us basic words.  I have never forgotten these words because of the games and songs we played. As I got older and continued taking lessons, she increased the difficulty of what we learned without making the transition too hard. My grandmother is originally from Rome and she taught my mother how to speak while she was growing up. My sister and I both took an interest in learning how to speak with my grandmother and mother, and because of Claudia we have learned enough Italian to have conversations with them. Claudia is a very good teacher and I look forward to learning more Italian with her in the future.

I have been learning Italian for over 4 years with Claudia and have loved every single moment of it! My family all speaks Italian and I have learned words and phrases here and there over the years, but never enough to hold a real conversation. With Claudia’s patience and dedication, we worked on reading, listening, writing, and speaking and I have seen a significant improvement in my Italian and now I am able to hold a conversation!
