New Dominican Eats on Newkirk

Adelynn's Restaurant & Grill opens on Newkirk Avenue serving authentic Dominican style fare.

A new restaurant serving delicious dishes from the Dominican Republic, called Adelynn's Restaurant & Grill, 1610 Newkirk Avenue, opened it's doors on August 3rd (between East 16th & 17th Streets). You could very easily just walk past it, because they don't have their signage up yet, but that hasn't stopped them from serving up good eats. I stepped in a few days ago and ordered their Cod Fish Stew/Bacalao Gisado for $6 that came with a choice of spanish or white rice (I opted for spanish). The serving they provided was ample and very tasty. The environment like the food is authentic with bachata music playing in the background and paintings with scenes of the Dominican Republic's town and countryside.

The owner is Ramon De La Cruz, but the whole family pitches in, with mom in the back cooking and his daughter behind the counter serving up the food, and they are all happy to make you feel at home.
