Toddler Drop-Off Summer Camp

Drop Off Toddler Summer Camp for Toddlers in Ditmas Park.

Summer is in full swing and everyone is off to camp...except the toddlers. For many little ones, their preschool experiences stopped abruptly in June. I know my son constantly asks "Mommy can I go to school today to see myfriends?" His school year preschool coop was a great experience for him especially because our PM group were likeminded and had our children's best interests at heart at all times. Our bigger coop experience was unstable and inconsistent as a direct result of actions of the collective group not conferring, communicating or consulting the entire “school” on issues that would affect everyone.

After some research into toddler summer programs, I realized that there were not many options out there. So, I decided to host my own four week toddler drop off summer camp this August. I utilized my teaching background to create a stimulating curriculum and plan a comprehensive schedule. I chose the theme “Little Architects” and designed hands-on activities and projects that will address anumber of learning objectives and essential age-appropriate skills including logic/reasoning,spatial awareness, number concepts, scientific reasoning, listening comprehension, letter, word and shape recognition, as well as enhancing social relationships and self-expression.

Daily discussion and activities will be driven by the “question of the day” and the agenda will include circle time, art, station play, story time and music and movement. Each week, the children will focus on and learn about various types of structures: skyscrapers, habitats, huts and stadiums. The camp will be a drop off camp for toddler’s ages 20 months-4 years old. It will run on Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 9:30am-11:30am starting on August 7th at Namaste Yoga of Kensington (482 Coney Island Ave. 2ndfloor).
