Double Shooting Reported in Ditmas Park

Gunfire on Ditmas Avenue.

Reports of double shooting are streaming out of Ditmas Park tonight.

NYC Scanner, a Twitter account that listens in on the city’s police scanners, reports that the shooting went down at the corner of East 18th Street and Ditmas Avenue around 8 p.m.

However, photos from the scene show the victims being carried on stretchers to East Midwood Volunteer Ambulance vehicles a few blocks away, near Ditmas Avenue and Coney Island Avenue.

“A lot of police activity on Coney Island between 18 Ave & Ditmas Ave,” says one resident on Twitter.

Another resident says on Twitter that the double shooting took place right outside her favorite Dunkin Donuts, located at Coney Island and Ditmas avenues.

According to scanner reports, the two victims are both males and are both in stable condition.

The NYPD could not immediately provide information about the incident.

This is the second shooting today in the area. This morning at nearby East 21st Street and Ditmas Avenue, a 21-year-old man was shot in the head around 2:30 a.m., according to Ditmas Park Corner. He was reported as alive but in critical condition earlier today.

And around two weeks ago, a 22-year-old resident named Ian Caicedo was reportedly shot and killed at 81 Crooke Avenue.

Update: A reporter for Yeshiva World News who was on the scene confirms that the shooting took place at Coney Island and Ditmas, not E 18th and Ditmas. He says police canvassed the area in search of a suspect but didn’t have much luck.
