Off-Duty Police Officer Returns Fire, Shoots Man In East Flatbush
It happened around 2:45 a.m. Sunday near Linden Boulevard and East 43rd Street in East Flatbush, police said.

EAST FLATBUSH, NY — Someone fired a gun at a home where an off-duty NYPD officer was in early Sunday, and the officer returned fire, hitting the man in the hip, the NYPD said. It happened around 2:45 a.m. Sunday near Linden Boulevard and East 43rd Street in East Flatbush, police said.
Officers arrived at the scene and found a 30-year-old man with a gunshot wound. Investigators determined he had fired toward the front of the home first and the off-duty officer shot back.
Emergency workers rushed the man to Brookdale Hospital. He is in stable condition and in police custody.

The officer was not hurt but was taken to Methodist Hospital to be evaluated.
A .38 caliber revolver was found at the scene. No other injuries were reported. An investigation remains ongoing.
