Flatbush Man Gets 20 Years For Killing Girlfriend In Bathtub: DA

FLATBUSH, BROOKLYN — A man who stabbed his naked girlfriend to death and tried to shoot his way into a birthday party which he had not been invited to will spend 20 years in prison, the Brooklyn District Attorney announced Wednesday.
Daniel Romain, 35, was sentenced after he pleaded guilty earlier in March to fatally stabbing Tisa Kelly, 46, whom police officers found naked and tied up with bed sheets in their East Flatbush home in 2015, prosecutors.
When police arrived at 649 East 95th St. the afternoon of Dec. 5, they found Romain covered with blood and with plastic grocery bags tied over his blood-stained hands, said prosecutors.

Kelly tried to run out the back door, but was chased by police and arrested, prosecutors said.
The Flatbush man also pleaded guilty to using a gun to try to gain entry into an East New York birthday party on April 25, 2015 and grazing one guest’s head with a bullet, prosecutors said.

Kelly was sentenced 20 years for the manslaughter charge and 10 years for the assault charge in Brooklyn Criminal Court, prosecutors said.
