Help Covenant Ballet Move Gracefully!
COVENANT BALLET IS HOSTING AN ONLINE FUNDRAISER at https://www.crowdrise.com/help-covenant-ballet-move-gracefully
Covenant Ballet has been searching for a permanent home since being uprooted by Hurricane Sandy in 2012. For more than three years, this once-thriving, centrally located, nonprofit has continued to serve South Brooklyn by sharing a small studio located in a neighborhood with no subway service. It’s loyal instructors, students and families have made great sacrifices to make the best of their compromised circumstances, but now their “life-raft”, the building they moved into after Hurricane Sandy, has been put up for sale.
This truly is a critical juncture in Covenant Ballet’s history. Moving the studio is no longer optional; in order to keep their doors open they must move on. The silver-lining is that they believe that they have found the perfect location; but build out costs, lease obligations, and other transition expenses are daunting (approximately $200,000). There is a lot involved in turning an empty space into a safe, inviting studio for Covenant Ballet and its students. Without a home Covenant Ballet cannot continue to spread the love of dance in South Brooklyn, where artistic, cultural activities and offerings are few. Nor can they continue to break negative male stereotypes in dance with their tuition-free Boy’s Program.
Covenant Ballet has always been a small school with a big heart. Their commitment to diversity of people, language, culture, and the vibrant energy that only comes from opening both doors and hearts to all people is the foundation on which their organization is built.

Covenant Ballet has been changing the lives of the children of South Brooklyn for nearly 30 years, offering the highest quality in dance education that enables students at every level to achieve their full artistic potential. The organization’s long-held commitment to both dance and academic education instills in its students the drive for excellence while teaching them about self-confidence and self-esteem, lessons that they take with them throughout their lives. Additionally, Its Arts in Education programs have made a huge impact on the lives of thousands of young children attending New York City Public Schools since their first performance in 1987, often providing young viewers with their first dance experience.
Without donations Covenant Ballet could never have achieved so much over the years. The campaign will only run from May 16 – July 16.
