Knife-Wielding Man Apprehended Near Flatbush Synagogue, Cops Say

An emotionally disturbed person was found with a knife near an Orthodox Jewish synagogue on East 22nd Street, police said.

FLATBUSH, BROOKLYN -- Police grabbed a man with a knife near a Flatbush synagogue early Tuesday morning, police said.

The armed man had a psychotic episode near Beit Shaul U Miriam, an Orthodox Jewish synagogue on East 22nd Street and Ave S, at about 9 a.m. Tuesday morning, police said.

Emergency responders rushed the man to Coney Island Hospital where he will receive treatment, police said.

An NYPD spokesperson said it was doubtful the man would face hate crime charges because of his mental state.

No injuries were reported after the incident, said police.
