Happy Tuesday, neighbors! Let's get you all caught up to start today off on an informed note.

First, today's weather:

Damp in the a.m., then breezy. High: 43 Low: 28.

Here are the top three stories today in Ditmas Park-Flatbush:

  1. Mayor Eric Adams was in Flatbush's Kings Hospital to announce the expansion of a "lifestyle medicine" program to medical facilities across the city. The program encourages patients suffering from chronic illnesses to eat plant-based diets, which Adams himself claims helped cure his past type-2 diabetes. On Monday he also cooked a vegan chili recipe on camera that he says cost under $10, to dispel the notion that plant-based diets are expensive. (Brooklyn Paper)
  2. Black political power in New York City has for a long time been shifting from Harlem to Brooklyn, and the past election cycle cements that, writes Clem Richardson. Now the borough is home to a Black Mayor, Black Attorney General, and party chair and Assemblywoman Rodneyse Bichotte Hermelyn. (City & State)
  3. Medgar Evers College will be hosting the National Black Writers Conference in March and April of this year, featuring world-renowned writers and journalists, including Brittney Cooper, Jelani Cobb, and Ibram X. Kendi, the author of How to Be an Antiracist. (Brooklyn Reader)
