A 27-year-old Ditmas Park resident was fatally shot near East 18th Street and Caton Avenue.

DITMAS PARK, BROOKLYN — A Pennsylvania man is facing murder charges for the 2015 fatal shooting of a Ditmas Park resident blocks from his apartment building.
Manuel Waisome, 24, of Hazelton, Penn., was arrested Thursday and charged with second-degree murder and criminal weapons possession, police said. Waisome's arrest comes more than a year after 27-year-old Darnell Nelson was shot to death on Nov. 24, 2015.
After being shot in the chest, Nelson was transported by private means to Kings County Hospital where he was pronounced dead, police said. Nelson was shot on the corner of East 18th Street and Caton Avenue, about two blocks away from his East 17th Street residence, police said.
