Mayor Schedules Special Election To Replace Jumaane Williams
There will be yet another special election this spring to decide who will claim City Council district 45 in Brooklyn.

FLATBUSH, BROOKLYN — Flatbush will vote in yet another special election to decide who will claim a city council seat left vacant by the specially elected public advocate, Jumaane Williams.
Mayor Bill de Blasio signed a proclamation Wednesday to hold an election on May 14 in Brooklyn's District 45 — which includes Flatbush, Canarsie and Midwood — after Williams officially retired from the position Tuesday.
Williams, who represented the district for about a decade, gave up his post to replace former public advocate Letitia James, who was elected New York Attorney General in 2018.
