Good morning, people of Ditmas Park-Flatbush! Dashiell Allen here with the Thursday issue of the Ditmas Park-Flatbush Daily.

First, today's weather:

Mostly cloudy and much colder. High: 33 Low: 32.

Here are the top three stories today in Ditmas Park-Flatbush:

  1. A driver has been charged with reckless driving 10 months after his car fatally collided with an e-bike rider at Clarendon Road and Rogers Avenue in Flatbush in April 2021. At the time cops had said that only the victim had broken the rules by speeding through a red light — but now they've changed their assessment and believe the driver broke the law as well. (New York Daily News)
  2. Meet East Flatbush-raised rapper MC Lyte, whose songs explore the issues of violence and drug addiction. Lyte is also a violence-prevention and voting rights activist. (Brooklyn Reader)
  3. The MTA announced it would test out physical barriers in three Subway stations, which has been a key demand of city officials since the death of Michelle Go who was pushed into an incoming R train back in January. Hopefully some barriers will come to Flatbush and Ditmas Park, although it probably won't be anytime soon. (New York City Patch)
