Music at the Center presents An Afternoon of Classical Music with Jinah Park and Friends

Ring in Spring with the works of Schumann and Brahms: German Romantic Masters performed by a South Korea­Brooklyn transplant

Brooklyn, NY, April 3, 2016 — Music at the Center, the new music concert series at the East Midwood Jewish Center (1625 Ocean Avenue), will pianist Jinah Park performing the works of German Romantic Masters Schumann and Brahms.

The lush program of German romantic works includes Schumann’s 3 Romances for Flute and Piano, Op. 94, Brahms’s Hungarian Dances for piano 4 hands. and Brahms’s masterful Trio No. 3 in in C minor for Piano, Violin, and Cello, Op. 101. The sensational artist line­up to collaborate with pianist Jinah Park features violinist Sarah Geller, flutist Tony Cimino, pianist Theresa Rosas and cellist Erich Schoen­Rene.

Born in South Korea, Jinah Park has studied piano since the age of five. In recent years, Park has made New York her home and has been performing in solo and chamber music concerts. Ms. Park received her Undergraduate Music Degree at Chonnam National University in Gwangju, South Korea, where she studied with Byung­Guem Yoo. She completed her Graduate Studies in piano at Brooklyn College (CUNY) with Michael Rogers. Park has performed at Merkin Hall, Gershwin Theater, and many other venues in New York.

A musician and mother of a 3 year old daughter, Park says she hopes families take advantage of the opportunity to introduce their children to the works of classical artists. “Toddlers in particular, love classical music. It can be quite upbeat and they enjoy the melodies,” she said. “This is a great opportunity to experience classical music being performed live, in a family­friendly setting.”

Following the concert, there will be an opportunity to meet the artists. Tickets for the event are $25/adults $20/seniors $10 teens Free/children 13 and under

East Midwood Jewish Center is a 91 year old egalitarian, Conservative congregation in Brooklyn. It is led by Rabbi Matt Carl and Cantor Sam Levine. It also hosts a Hebrew School and Arts Based Jewish Education program led by Audrey Korelstein. There are daily morning and evening egalitarian minyans, weekly Shabbat services, weekly children’s events, and NightShul, an adult education program.
