Shore View Nursing and Rehabilitation Celebrates Its Newest Centenarian

Local nursing home hosts 100th birthday celebration

The Shore View Nursing and Rehabilitation Center recently celebrated a monumental event—the centennial birthday celebration of resident Helen Gennaoui. Mrs. Gennaoui commemorated her 100th birthday with her cherished friends, family and fellow residents by her side. With the help of the facility’s devoted staff, the extraordinary milestone was celebrated with balloons, festive decorations and a delicious cake for all to enjoy.

Mrs. Gennaoui’s birthday wasn’t just a celebration, but a reflection of her remarkable life. Born on August 8, 1916, Helen worked several odd jobs in her younger years to support her family. She married her lifelong love, George Gennaoui, on July 2, 1952, and the couple was happily married for 63 years. Mr. Gennaoui, a former resident of the Shore View facility, passed away last year. Helen often reminisces about the early days of their love when the pair would sneak in long walks around their neighborhood, unbeknownst to Helen’s strict father. The pair loved to swim, travel and play tennis.
