Sleeping Man Stabbed In Head With Screwdriver On 5 Train: Cops

Police are looking for the man who stabbed another man in the head with what appeared to be a screwdriver on a Brooklyn train Thursday.

FLATBUSH, BROOKLYN -- A sleeping man got a rude awakening Thursday when a stranger stabbed him in the head with a screwdriver on a Brooklyn 2 train, police said.

A 29-year-old man was resting on a northbound train at the Beverly Road station at about 2 p.m. when a man in his 30s attacked him unprovoked, said police.

The suspect stabbed the 29-year-old then dashed out of the station, according to police.

Emergency responders rushed the injured man, who was conscious and is expected to survive his injuries, to Kings County Hospital, police said.

Investigators found a screwdriver handle in the train and are looking for the suspect, who may have been wearing a backpack, said police.

Northbound 2 trains were delayed as northbound trains were rerouted to the 1 train and southbound tracks, according to the MTA.
