The Bromley School of Music

This gray house on E17th between Cortelyou and Beverley housed the Bromley School of Music, and has been a place for teaching music for as long as anyone in this neighborhood remembers. Second Floor Living gets the tour:

The house was a music school and recording studio for over 60 years operated by Buster and Fae Bromley. They had a presentation orchestra, music lessons, recording studio, the whole 9 yards. They even left behind many of their instruments. Three pianos (2 uprights from the late 1800s and 1 grand Steinway from 1921) as well as an organ and many manuscripts, orchestra banners, etc…

In keeping with the spirit, it is currently home to young musicians, many of whom offer private classes, and moved Lucius to dedicate their album to the house “Songs From The Bromley House.”
