NEW YORK CITY — The iconic annual Tribute in Light ceremony will take place in Lower Manhattan Friday night.
The tribute consists of a pair of light beams cast into the night sky, symbolizing the void left by the twin towers.
It will be visible as far as 60 miles away from Manhattan. The tribute remembers the nearly 3,000 people who were killed in the Sep. 11 attacks.
Other buildings citywide will light up in blue in remembrance of the lives lost.
Beginning at 8 p.m., Disney and its affiliates, in partnership with the 9/11 Memorial & Museum, will air "9/11 Tribute in Light: Live from Lower Manhattan," a broadcast commemorating the 25th anniversary of the attacks.
ABC News anchors David Muir, Robin Roberts, and Diane Sawyer will host the event.
