Stranger Punches 8-Year-Old Boy Riding Subway With His Mom: NYPD

The man randomly walked up to the 8-year-old boy and his mother and then punched her son, police said.

FINANCIAL DISTRICT — A man punched a child on the subway Monday night, police said.

At about 8:30 p.m. on Monday, a mother and her 8-year-old son were on the train heading towards the Fulton St. station at Fulton and William Sts., according to police.

As the train was approaching the station, a man approached the boy and punched him in the head causing pain and swelling, police said.

The man fled, and police said the family and the man didn't speak during the incident.

Emergency medical services transported the boy to NY Downtown Hospital, where he was treated and released, police said.

Police said the man was described as 6-feet 2, 200 pounds with a blotchy complexion, an injured right eye, and salt and pepper beard and hair. He was last seen wearing a black jacket, black knit cap, red hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans and black boots.
