Man Threatened Off-Duty Officer With A Pocket Knife: NYPD

Police are searching for a man who reportedly followed an off-duty officer out of a cafe and threatened him with a pocket knife.

LOWER MANHATTAN, NY — Police are searching for a man who reportedly threatened an off-duty officer with a pocket knife in the Fifth Precinct, according to police.

On Friday, Feb. 22 around 7 a.m., an off-duty officer and a man got into a verbal argument at Corte Cafe, at 2 Lafayette St., police said.

The off-duty cop left the cafe, and the man followed him out, according to police.

At Duane and Lafayette Sts., the unidentified man showed a pocket knife, threatening the off-duty officer, according to police.

The officer identified himself as such. The man then fled south towards Reade St., police said.

No injuries were reported, according to police.

Police said the man is described as having brown eyes, black hair, 5-feet 7-inches tall, and 250 pounds between 35 and 45 years old. He was last seen wearing a black cap with a white logo, a black sweatshirt, blue jeans, and black work boots.
