This NYC Neighborhood Was Ranked Among The Coolest In The World: See List

NEW YORK CITY — A Lower Manhattan neighborhood has been named one of the coolest areas in the world, according to a new list.

Time Out recently released its list of the "Top 40 coolest neighborhoods in the world" and mentioned the Financial District in 28th place.

Time Out said its global ranking was compiled by editors and on-the-ground experts in cities around the world.

Time Out editors praised the neighborhood's transformation in recent years — saying it has undergone a transformation from primarily a business and finance hub into a cultural destination.

The neighborhood’s shift toward residential use began in the mid-1990s and accelerated following the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks.

Today, FiDi combines historic landmarks including Wall Street, the New York Stock Exchange, Federal Hall and the World Trade Center with renowned restaurants such as Manhatta, Crown Shy, SAGA and Maison Passerelle.

Chinatown in Los Angles proved to be the highest ranking U.S. neighborhood on the list.
