Police Searching for Man Who Assaulted a Woman in the East Village

The man grabbed her butt, and when she confronted him about it, he punched her multiple times.

Here's yet another reminder it can be dangerous to stick up for yourself as a woman. Police are asking for the public's help in searching for a man who grabbed a woman's butt, and when she confronted him about it, he punched her in the face multiple times. This all happened at 208 1st Avenue between 12th and 13th streets on Saturday, July 23 at 1:45 p.m.

Police said the woman was 37 years old but wouldn't name her for her protection. They describe the man as a white 20 to 25-year-old man 5'8'' and 140 lbs. He was last seen wearing a dark shirt and blue jeans. Police have provided surveillance footage of him.
