Snapchat Shorts Now a Category at Tribeca Film Festival

TRIBECA, NY — Snapchat addicts rejoice: "Tribeca Snapchat Shorts" is now an official Tribeca Film Festival category, courtesy of The Tribeca Film Festival and Snap Inc. Tribeca Film Festival programmers will watch the Snapchat submissions and choose up to ten finalists, who will all receive a badge to attend the festival.

Tribeca Snapchat Shorts is the ideal platform for visionary artists who work in a mobile space.

According to Tribeca Film Festival's website, "This new category provides the perfect opportunity for people who are passionate about Snapchat and narrative storytelling to present their mastery of the smallest screen."

Snapchatters will take a Snapchat Story on the app, then hit the "Save Story" button to download the finished product as an MP4 file, which saves it to the camera roll. Contestants may use Snap Inc. products like Spectacles and Memories, but no third-party software apps are allowed.

Once the Snapchat is formatted correctly, users can go here to upload and submit their Story to be considered.

Here's a more detailed guide on how to submit a Snapchat Story, listed on the Tribeca Film Festival website:

1. Download Snapchat if you're not already a Snapchatter. If you are already using Snapchat, log in and start planning your Story.
2. Start Snapping! Create a short film using the Snapchat Story function. Your story should be no longer than 120 seconds long.
3. Read our rules and regulations to make sure you qualify. We will be accepting submissions from those who are 18+ and living in the USA. You can only submit once. Any content that is explicitly violent, profane or disrespectful of others will be automatically disqualified.
4. Don’t let your masterpiece disappear! Once you have finished creating your Story, save it using the Save Story function. No 3rd party editing allowed.
5. Come back to this page before February 17, 2017 at 6pm ET when submissions close, and follow the link below to upload your video file. Seriously, press Control + D now.

A jury of Jason Biggs, Andy Cohen, Dillon Francis, Eva Longoria, Serena Williams and others will pick the winner of the Snapchat category, which will be announced during the Festival, from April 19-30.
