Tribeca Mom Was Hit In Head And Stabbed In Neck: Medical Examiner

Paula Chin's son and two others were charged in connection with her death.

TRIBECA, NY — A Tribeca mom whose body was found dumped in New Jersey had been hit in the head several times and stabbed in the neck, New York City's medical examiner said Friday.

Paula Chin's son and two women have been arrested in connection with the killing. The three allegedly hauled Chin's body out her Manhattan apartment on Vestry St. in a garbage bag and took her to another home in Morris Township, New Jersey, where they tossed her body in the trash, according to reports.

Her son, Jared Eng, 22, and two others — Jennifer Lopez, 18, of the East Village and Caitlyn O'Rourke, 21, of Patterson, New York — were charged with concealment of a corpse.

Eng is a top suspect for his mother's murder, according to reports.

The New York Daily News reported that O'Rourke and Eng met while students at SUNY-New Paltz. Friends of the couple told the News that Lopez became a part of their relationship last fall.

The New York Times reported that finances may have been a motive.

Eng estimated his mother, 65, had $11 million in a bank account in an interview on Riker's Island, The New York Post reported. Eng denied that he killed his mother over his mother's wealth, saying: "She gave me everything. If I needed anything, she gave it to me."

According to The Post, Eng and his mother argued over money his late father, Philip, left behind, according to police.

Eng, however, said they fought about his mother's health and he thought she had early Alzheimer's, The Post reported.

O'Rourke told detectives that Eng admitted to slashing his mom's throat and said that she "took a while to die," The Post reported.

The Times detailed a brutal scene of bloody gloves in the Tribeca apartment, bloodstains in the New Jersey garage, as well as blood traces in the car used to transport the woman's body, citing the criminal complaint. To clean up the mess, The Times reported, O'Rourke told police that she had attempted to wash clothes in a washing machine at Chin's New Jersey home.
