Woman Robbed, Held at Knife Point and Slashed in the Hand in Financial District Monday
Police are searching for a man who held a woman at knife point, slashed her in the hand and robbed her of her purse on Water Street Jan. 2.
FIDI, NY — Police are looking for a man who held a woman at knife point, slashed her in the hand and robbed her of her purse on Water Street in the Financial District the night of Jan. 2.
At about 7:45 p.m., the 25-year-old victim was walking in front of 217 Water St. when she felt a tug on her purse and saw a knife being held up to her throat, police told Patch.
The unknown suspect told the woman to give him her purse and she complied, police said. The purse contained cash, bank cards and a pair of glasses.

The man then slashed the back of the victim's right hand with the knife and fled on foot westbound on Beekman Street, (pictured in the video below) police told Patch.
The woman was transported to the New York Downtown Hospital and received nine stitches for the cut on her hand, police said.

Police described the suspect as a white male, approximately 30 years old and standing 5-foot-8. He weighs about 160 pounds and was wearing a dark blue hoody, blue jeans, black shoes and possibly a dark cap.
